The Science of LED Light Therapy

Understanding LED Light Therapy

LED light therapy is a skincare technology that uses specific light wavelengths, applied to the surface of the skin or scalp. It is based on decades of research in various fields (aesthetic dermatology, sports recovery, well-being).

At Lumenova Paris, we make this technology accessible at home, through carefully selected devices.

How does an LED work?

An LED (Light Emitting Diode) is an electronic component that emits light at a precise wavelength, measured in nanometers (nm). This precision allows for targeting different cosmetic uses depending on the chosen color - unlike classic light, which emits a broad and untargeted spectrum.

Wavelengths and their cosmetic uses

Blue light - 415 to 460 nm Used in cosmetics for its soothing properties on blemish-prone skin. It acts on the surface, on the superficial layers of the skin.

Red light - 630 to 660 nm Penetrates deeper into the skin. Traditionally used in cosmetics to support skin's radiance, apparent firmness, and smoothed appearance. On the scalp, this wavelength is used in a hair care approach aimed at supporting the apparent vitality of the hair.

Near-infrared - 830 to 850 nm Invisible to the naked eye, penetrates deeper into tissues. Used in cosmetics and recovery for its action on the general comfort of the skin and tissues.

Perceived effects vary depending on the individual, skin or hair type, and regularity of use.

Why consistency matters

Regular use is generally considered a key factor, more so than the intensity of a single session. This is why we recommend regular use — 3 to 5 sessions per week of 10 to 20 minutes rather than isolated, one-off sessions.

This is also why Lumenova Paris has chosen to make this technology accessible at home: for regular and easy use, integrated into your routine.

Our selection of devices

All Lumenova Paris devices are selected according to precise criteria:

1. Compliant wavelengths We verify that each displayed wavelength corresponds to the actual measurement of the device.

2. Adapted irradiance Our devices are selected to deliver light power suitable for regular home cosmetic use.

3. CE Certification Any device sold in France and the European Union must bear the CE marking, attesting to its conformity with European electrical and electromagnetic safety standards. This is a requirement that we apply to our entire catalog.

4. Quality materials Our masks are made of food-grade silicone, BPA-free, hypoallergenic, and easy to clean.

5. Durability Our LEDs are designed for long-term daily use.

Manufacturing

Lumenova Paris devices are designed and selected by our team, then manufactured by our specialized industrial partners. We work with manufacturers who comply with European safety standards applicable to sales in France and the EU.

In summary

LED light therapy is a non-invasive, pain-free, and no-downtime skincare technology. It fits into a daily cosmetic routine to support:

  • The comfort of blemish-prone skin
  • The appearance of skin firmness and radiance
  • A hair care routine

At Lumenova Paris, we select quality devices to enable you to integrate this technology into your beauty routine at home.

Results vary by individual and cannot be guaranteed. LED light therapy does not replace medical or dermatological advice. In case of doubt, skin conditions, pregnancy, or photosensitizing treatment, we recommend consulting a healthcare professional before use.
